Our first Mendota race since the big floods and only second for the season this past Sunday and what a ride it was. A south wind on Mendota brings big air with little waves so nice flat and fast water! Down wind was the ride we all talk about. Crew work proved to be early in the season as seen in photo 1:
Photo #1& 2 - This is not the fast way to douse your spinnaker. The Magic Bus did however manage to pull it back into the boat and somehow stay pointy side up.
Photo #3 - As seen here Blue Chip also struggling. This demonstrates what happens when the take is blown too early. Not beautiful but ultimately, with minimal bad language, it's in the boat and round the mark to the next blunder.
Photo #4 - Bill Mattison proved that experience wins the day with 2 victories and no chute repairs. Well Done Bill.
