With an impressive nine points (3-1-1-3-1), the Silverhawk takes home the championship title. Terry Blanchard’s Geneva boat is pictured here with Maya and Finn Burdick and Chapman Petersen. The new addition this season was mainsheet trimmer Kutsch who sails for UW. He brought new seventh Molly Forbes from Calhoun who also is his UW crew. The children bring their own prowess – Chapman has begun traveling to Opti events this season and is the runnerup of the Pram Power. Maya and Finn spent time on the MC racecourse sailing – eating candy and earning ice cream – in other words, working their dad earlier in the week. This is the second time the Blanchard/Burdick team has won the Inland.
Second place is Geneva’s Tom Freytag. “T” has also used the same team members for several years. The Madcap never fell below second place all regatta.
In third place is the M-1 Cosmic Warrior who has won the title five times.
Fourth went to the Eagle, I-1. John Anderson’s boat is regularly skipped by gold medalist and America’s Cup skipper Buddy Melges. This event Vincent Porter stepped in which is a credit to his exceptional ability and the extraordinary skill of the crew to adapt to a new feel on the boat.
Just an outstanding event for the G Force! This boat port tacked the fleet, fought back on poor mark roundings – just showed guts and fine sailing.
Congrats to I-12 Tom Whowell’s Big Red Machine. The red mast is strikingly beautiful on the water.
This picture does not do justice to the magnificence of the A trophies. Intricate silver work graces our oldest awards. It is worth a trip next year to Mendota to view the display on trophy day.
